Relax, You're Not The Only One to Have a Bad First Date
Every once in a while it happens - you have a bad first date. Hang on, though. Don't be too fast to cut and run and write the other person off. Chemistry non existent? Uncomfortable about starting a conversation? Is rudeness the vibe you're getting from the other person? Try some of these tips if you experience a bad first date.
Think about these ideas before you are ready to cut and run on a bad first date.
1. Try setting the date for coffee. It can be short and sweet and if it's not working out, you can finish your coffee and say "adieu".
2. About that rude date. There's no reason you have to accept someone else's bad behavior. Smile, say good night and go home
3. What if you and your date are simply not "simpatico"? Okay, you're a Republican, they're a die hard Democrat. Tough it out through the date and politely take your leave. Make your mother proud If they want to extend the date with a night cap, simply say "No thanks, not tonight".
4. What if, in the middle of the conversation, you tell a joke that insults your date. How were you to know their grandfather was a midge accordion player. Be an adult. Apologize. They may just decide to let you go on that one.
5. Leave the self-deprecating humor at home. You don't need to bash yourself in front of a date. They're probably not impressed with it, anyway.
Get over yourself and a bad first date experience.
1. A bad first date is not always your fault. Realize that you were an adult for sticking through it. Figure out what went wrong and try not to do it again.
2. Tell a good friend what happened. They'll listen and they've probably been there too. Don't let this haunt you for the rest of your dating life.
3. Move on. Do something else so you quit bashing yourself and move past the bad date. Do something fun. Exercise, eat your favorite comfort food or watch an old movie - the bad vibes and sour taste will disappear.
4. If your date wants a second chance and asks you out again, feel free to turn it down. A little white lie won't hurt. Try "Thanks for the invitation, but I'm busy".
5. A bad first date but you're not quite sure if there isn't a diamond in the rough, give them a second chance. It may just turn out that they were just as nervous and off their game as you were. The second time just might be the charm so keep this in mind if you experience a bad first date.
