How does an Accordian really work?

As with any musical instrument, there are a few great people who stand out from the rest. They have moved from that instrument being a pastime to it being their passion and their livelihood. The accordion is a musical instrument that has some great musicians who are often not just players of the instrument but also composers of enjoyable music.

A famous Spanish accordion player is Angel Luis Castano. He has several CD’s available and has played numerous concerts. Lawrence Welk was an accordion player who had his own weekly television show. Many people took an interest in the accordion after watching him play it on the show.

Gary Dahl is a great accordion player who is known for writing his own songs. He is an established composer, artist, music arranger, and educator in the area of accordion playing. Dahl is a well known accordion teacher. He owns The Dahl Accordion School.

John Serry Sr. is well known in the United States for being a soloist, composer, and arranger of music with an accordion. He performed in various symphonies and jazz ensembles. Serry was also featured on a variety of radio and television programs. In 1940, Serry created a functional free base accordion.

Guy Klucevsek has a very interesting style when it comes to the accordion. He has combined folk style with traditional style of play. He is well known throughout Russia and Italy for his music.

Those Darn Accordions are a non-traditional, rock and roll accordion band. They are currently touring around the United States. This six man band is from San Francisco, California. Their music includes polkas with a twist, the swing, and classic rock n roll.

Queen Ida was the first female accordion player to lead her own band on a world tour. Her favorite accordion was a 31 melody model. She became noticed for her musical talents with the accordion in the 1980’s, playing  blues and Cajun tunes. Her first gig was playing at Mardi Gras in 1975.

While according players, especially women, aren’t as well known as many other types of musicians, they continue to provide us with great melodies. Learning to play the accordion takes a great deal of time and dedication. Those who do it well make it look very simple, but ask anyone who has given it a try just how hard it is to get a sound that resembles music out of an accordion.

Can eny one name the artist of a good Cajun band??

I need to know the name or artist of a good Cajun song. I mean the good old southern bayou type music with all the accordions,fiddles and French speaking stuff?
